Canara Bank is a large public sector bank. Its head office is in Bengaluru. The bank says it has more than 10,000 branches and a presence abroad.
For this programme, the bank will place apprentices in selected branches. The training follows the clerical-cadre working hours of the bank.
The notification lists 391 training seats for Tamil Nadu. The local language for the state is Tamil. The seat split is given below.
Seats for persons with benchmark disabilities are reserved within the total. The bank also says the seat numbers may change with its needs.
You can choose only one state. You can rank the districts of that state in order of preference. The bank decides the final district based on need.
You need a degree in any discipline. The university must be recognised by the Government of India. You must have passed between 01.01.2023 and 01.09.2026.
You must be at least 20 and at most 28 years old on 01.09.2026. That means you were born between 02.09.1998 and 01.09.2006.
The monthly stipend is Rs. 16,650. The bank pays Rs. 10,500 every month. The Government of India adds Rs. 6,150 through direct bank transfer.
Apprentices are not bank employees. They get no other allowances. PF, ESI and bonus do not apply. The bank has no duty to offer a job after training.
Apprentices get one casual leave after each completed month. The yearly limit is 12 days. Overtime needs approval from the Apprenticeship Adviser.
There is no written exam. The bank prepares a state-wise merit list. It uses your marks in Class 12 or your diploma, in descending order.
The minimum is 60% marks. For SC, ST and PwBD candidates, it is 55%. Decimals are ignored, so 59.99% counts as below 60%. If two candidates tie, the older one ranks higher.
Shortlisted candidates face document verification. The local language test happens at the same time. You skip the Tamil test if your Class 10 or 12 certificate shows you studied Tamil. A medical fitness check follows.
No other mode of application is accepted. Apply before the last date, because websites often slow down on closing day.
Keep these ready before you start.
The declaration reads: “I, (name), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.” Write it yourself. A declaration written by someone else makes the application invalid.
At engagement, carry originals and self-attested copies. These include the application printout, proof of birth date, a photo ID, all mark sheets from SSLC onwards, and category certificates if you claim reservation.
The notification lists 391 seats for Tamil Nadu out of 3,500 in India.
No. It is a 12-month apprenticeship. The bank is not bound to give you a job afterwards.
No. Selection is by merit, based on Class 12 or diploma marks, followed by document verification.
It is Rs. 500 for most candidates. SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay nothing.
Yes, for Tamil Nadu seats. You are exempt from the test if your school certificate shows Tamil as a subject.
The notice gives no phone number or email. Follow updates on the bank’s website.
If you graduated recently and meet the age rule, this is a useful first step into banking. Register on NATS today, because the bank only accepts applications with a complete NATS profile.
